When you clamp a chisel or plane blade in the tool, set it on a flat surface and look from the side to see if the bevel is laying flat. if not you need to adjust in or out till it does. If all your blades have the same bevel angle, you can make a guide block that can be used to setup the length of blades extension the same every time.
